چکیده

In this work, 1.4 mm dibutylphthalate (DBP) filled urea–formaldehyde (UF) microcapsules were used as Pickering stabilizers to create larger 140 mm microcapsules containing a second liquid phase, dicyclopentadiene (DCPD). The binary microcapsules were made by encapsulating the dispersed DCPD liquid (stabilized with the UF(DBP) microcapsules in water) via an isocyanate–alcohol interfacial polymerization reaction. Fluorescent optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the resulting microcapsules have a central liquid core decorated at its periphery with a layer of microcapsules containing the second liquid. The presence of both the encapsulated liquids within a single capsule structure was demonstrated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). DSC data analysis indicated a DBP volume fraction of 8.8%. This value was validated by the calculated theoretical fraction on the basis of the observed architecture and capsule dimensions.

Investigation of Thermodynamic Consistency Test of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in Room-Temperature Ionic liquids using Generic van der Waals Equation of State

Thermodynamic consistency test of isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of various binary systems containing Carbon dioxide (CO2)/Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been investigated in wide ranges of pressures in each isotherm precisely. In this paper Generic van der Waals (GvdW) equation of state (EoS) coupled with modified van der Waals Berthelot mixing rule has ...

A new microencapsulation method using an ultrasonic atomizer based on interfacial solvent exchange.

Reservoir-type microcapsules were produced in a mild and highly efficient manner using a coaxial ultrasonic atomizer. To understand the microencapsulation mechanism, the atomizer was operated in different modes. The results suggested the reservoir-type microcapsules were formed by midair collision of the microdrops of the two component liquids consisting of a polymer solution and an aqueous sol...

Modeling the Solubility of Acid Gases in Ionic Liquids

In this work, the PC-SAFT equation of state (EoS) has been used to model the solubility of acid gases (CO2 and H2S) in two imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) ([C8-mim][PF6] and [C8-mim][Tf2N]). Parameters of pure ILs were estimated using experimental densities. Two strategies were considered to model densities of pure ILs. In strategy 1, ILs were modeled as nonassociating compounds and in st...

Simultaneous optimization of multiple response variables for the gelatin-chitosan microcapsules containing angelica essential oil

Angelica essential oil (AO), a major pharmacologically active component of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels, possesses hemogenesis, analgesic activities and sedative effect. The application of AO in pharmaceutical systems had been limited because of its low oxidative stability. The AO-loaded gelatin-chitosan microcapsules with prevention from oxidation were developed and optimized using response...
